marting
Hi All! My plan is to build a pair of Cornscalas. I've gathered all the parts. Now I just need to build the cabinets. In the meantime I need to store the K-33Es. What's the best way to do this, face up or face down? Or does it matter? Martin.

I like to put them on a clean flat shelf face down with a towel over them to keep dust and spiders out. WARNING: mice love woofer paper, so put them on a high shelf and a cat nearby. ZAKO
Its OK to store woofer face down for a short while. Place in a box for safety. For long storage woofer should be stored on its side so no long term cone sag will not occur. In original box preffered.
jwc
outstanding project. What midhorn are you going to use? Are you going to place all the drivers inside the cabinet like a cornwall or you gonna have a Top section for the mid/tweet like the La Scalas? jc
marting
My current plan is to build two boxes for each speaker with the K33e in the bottom and the K77 and k55 in the top. I'm thinking I'll use a little spacer between the two boxes like on an Altec Model 19. The 19s have an open space between the two boxes, effetively making it one box. I'll have the bottom box closed. I think I'll leave the back of the top box open so that I can fool with the crossovers. For the midhorns I'll be using a pair of Altec 511s that I got on eBay really cheap. Martin. jwc
Martin. I'm excited of your project. Here is a website that has details/stepbystep for a Cornscala build. If anything, you could get good ideas from it. http://www.jwcullison.com/csclicktoconvert/index.html jc
Daddy Dee
It is certainly safe to store them face down. I have bolted a pair together, face to face for shipping as a pair.
marting
JWC - I was inspired by your posts and Bob's test box. I downloaded the Word file that you posted describing your build. I will definitely use some of your ideas. I may also build something very much like Bob's Box. I scored a pair of 15" LWE woofers. These look an awful lot like K33s but are supposed to be able to get up to 700Hz. I'm thinking of putting them in Bob's Box with the horns from a Heresy on top. We'll have to wait and see. I want to do the Cornscalas first. Right now I have everything except the wood and a couple of caps, oh yeah, and the free time to build them. [] I've got a wife and a three year old that take up a lot of my time. And thanks everyone for the reassurance about storing the woofers. I have them in boxes face down. Martin.
