lascala memories
My family room is far from optimum for a HT system. The right front is far too close to the center and I have no long wall in the rear for the surrounds. No one in town stocks ceiling mounts that will accommodate my RS7's so my question is, can I mount them directly to the wall 90 degrees opposed? I know that Klipsch recommends 180 degrees opposed for optimum performance, but the architect who designed this house didn't read the spec sheet. Heck, I can't even get them on the same wall with any seperation. Thanks.
SCOOTERDOG
Take a look at my HT web page to see how I mounted mine. I used shelf brackets to accomodate wheer ther was no wall and mounted them to the ceiling. The pics are a bit dark but if you like the way I mounted mine I would be happy to snap some good pics for you. O hell I'll just go snap one now...BRB scooter

SCOOTERDOG
Personally I like it mounted this way. I am starting construction of my new theater and will finally have a wall for the left surronds. I am planning on mounting them 90 deg like I have them now but on the wall. Guest BobG
Because of their 180 degree coverage pattern, it IS possible to get good results with one WDST speaker on the back wall and the other on the side wall. Don't put either close to a corner and try to get them similar distances from the listening position, then set the "distance delay" in your processor. The attached image should help describe the result.
IndyKlipschFan
Good point Bob.... Some with less than ideal rooms with today's electronics corrections can make what seems like bad situations sound great too. The WDST speakers do a great job of this too. Kriton
Hey, I don't have RS-7's (yet) but I do have mounted the synergy version, and I needed a ceiling mount that would hold all that weight and still be multi-directional (so I could point them down at the listening area) from the ceiling..so I used Omnimounts and the threaded insert in the back of my SS surrounds to mount the things from the ceiling...I think the RS's have the same insert? They look good, fit the threading exactly and are very sturdy, and not real (note- kind of ($25-40per mount I think)) pricey...just make sure you find out the thread twist from the Klipsch website or the documentation that came with the speakers, and the weight and compare your needs to the mounts available on www.omnimount.com...I went with the celing mount 20.0 (for speakers up to 20 lbs) and while I would have preferred to flush wall mount these things, it just wasn't possible, as my room is strange too. AND you can purchase them directly from various sources on the net! If you want picts I can get one for you! K
lascala memories
Thanks to everyone for the input. I finally found some wall/ceiling mounts that could hold the weight at a local store and then fabricated adapter brackets from aluminum bar stock. I mounted them from the ceiling and pointed them down directly at the center of the viewing area. They look great an sound better than I expected since they had to be mounted so high. (12 ft.) Now I am off to find a sub! Thanks again.
