LAhight
I am looking for a decent home theater receiver to go with my klipsch speaker set. What is an economical receiver I could purchase?

myram
Well if you want a good "cheap" receiver......take a look at the Denon 1602 ($400 retail). That will provide you wwith 70 wpc X 5 and also DD, DTS, and DPL2 decoding. This is a high quality piece of equipment, but at the sametime it won't break the bank. iXtreme
I know a few will disagree but a real player to look into is Technics. They feature dts/dd, 3 digital inputs, video switching and 100 wpc X 5. They are the warmest sunding recievers in their price range. I have friends with eveything from sony to jvc in the same price range and none have either the warmness or the awesome power handling imho. At least have a look/listen, you won't be dissapointed. I have owned 3 already because I am constantly upgrading to the newest techs and I will NEVER stray from Technics. I love their price/product. ------------------ Why do you like playing around with my little scope of reality? I can feel it all start slipping away..... See but I don't get it, don't you think maybe we can put it on credit? I get stupified. It's all the same...
dougdrake2
If the Denon 1602 at $400 is above the limit, look at the Denon 1601. It can be had for about $250-300, now that it has been discontinued. About the only thing it does not have is DPL II, which may not matter to you. Denon builds a good quality piece, and their power output claims are pretty accurate for a mass market piece. TheEAR
If $400 is your limit then I will recomend Denon, the 1602 is a great reciever at this price. And like Dougdrake2 pointed the disco 1601 may be a great alternative, even less green with most of the good. Denon recievers have a very good reputation, and this reputation was built on quality products. As an owner of two Denon recievers I can say you will own a quality Denon reciever and probably buy a larger Denon one day.
