Mighty Favog
O.k., so if you've even been grazed in the slightest of the 70's you'd remember the Michael Martin Murphy heartbreak tune called "Wildfire". When I was younger and this song frist hit the airwaves there was ~30 second piano rif that preceeded and proceeded the rest of the tune that we all know (no, I don't know what key it was in!!). So that's my quest. It's just so hard to look up music according to song length.....but I'm still trying. Any clues on what album it was or on what CD has the "long" version? Mark Hardy
No, I don't know where to find it, but I do remember it... My suggestion would be to take a look for the song at www.allmusic.com and see if you can track down the full length version from their database. We have it on a cheap '70's compilation CD, but I am pretty sure that it's the single (edited) version.
akirk
I'm pretty sure that the version you want is on the album "Blue Sky, Night Thunder". I have the album at home and could listen to it to make sure if you want. I saw Michael Martin Murphy at a small record store back in in the 1978-79 timeframe. He sat on a stool with guitar and played several of his songs, including "Wildfire". No piano of course but it still sounded great.
Mighty Favog
Thanks guys....and thank you akirk. If you could please blow the dust off that thing and see which one it is I would appreciate it a lot. The edited version just doesn't seem to tell the same story I remember and want to hear again. Agent Eagle
I have the long version saved to file in MP3 format.... I believe it is ripped at 320 bitrate.
BEC
Tom, I can drop that tune into an email to you if your mail server can handle the 5 mb size. Send me your email address if you want me to do that. Bob Crites bobcrites@centurytel.net
