KungFuNat
Any performance difference between the digital and analog SPL meters from radio shack?
Dylanl
I run the analog and it seems a little easier to read. At least for me. As far as performance differences I don't think so. It is just a preference.
Malcolm
I am not aware of any performance difference between the two. You will need a calibration chart with either one. You can find them on the internet. I find the analog version a lot easier to use for home audio work. You can see the swing in level when running a sweep. With the digital one, you just get samples every so often. You are never quite sure what it correlates to or what was in between. Its kind of like the difference between a car with an analog speedometer and a digital one.
crazytubepower
I have the analog and I feel it is better for an audio type application.

Yesfan70
I prefer the analog too. It is "more accurate" because you can get to within a 1/2dB going by the needle than having to rely on a digit flashing back and forth to the next and/or previous number for a certain level. colterphoto1
ANALOG is much easier to read and you get a better feel for the peaks. I think that model is out of production as I saw it on clearance sale around a year ago. You might get lucky and still find one. The chart another poster is referring to is for low frequencies, where the RS meter isn't dead accurate. But its a good device for it's price level. Here's a good thread about meters we had a while back. Member Picky also has a nice unit by Craftsman! It's digital but had some nice features.
