dblue
I purchased a new Subaru Forester XT (turbo) in June, it was just a matter of time untill I put a nice stereo in it. Here's the list: iPod Eclipse CD5435 head Phoenix Gold XS 4600 4 channel amp Focal 165V component sets in the front doors (powered off amp) Eclipse 4" coaxials in the rear doors (powered off head) and here's the kicker (pun intended): A soundsplinter RL-i 10 dual voice coil subwoofer. When I saw that this guy was selling these bad boys for 189 shipped, and that they were manufactured by TC sounds and are basically a 10" version of what SVS buys from TC for use in their + series subs...I had to bite. The sub sounds amazing, as does the rest of the system. I'm still 'tweaking' trying to get a balanced sound, and trying to get rid of the extra rattles this bad boy produces. Here are some pics:

dblue
Here's one of the Forester (pre-spoiler)
jacksonbart
Very nice job, looks great. More importantly how does it sound?
dblue
Sounds great so far, and I still have some tweaking to do. I'm impressed with the extension on this sub, and the sound quality/price ratio. And it can go LOUD with the Focals. I'll post more after I get the rattles ironed out and everything balanced. feersum dreadnot
Nice install. I take it the XT doesn't have the same integrated head unit as my Legacy GT, which seems to defy aftermarket options? 5MT or 5EAT transmission? I got the 5MT with STI shifter - great fun in the twisties. you may need to put some dampner in the doors to quell the rattles...
dblue
Not sure, I haven't seen the Legacy GT head unit. This is basically an in-dash 6 disc changer, with weatherband. Here's a pic: Oh, and I did end up getting the Automatic. I love the convenience of an Auto and when I drove the Auto (after the stick), I was sold. The '05 has an electronic throttle control that makes it VERY responsive.
TBrennan
Nice car, great for meeting Lesbians. Between you with the Subaru wagon and Moon with the Wrangler.....he'll bring the boys and you bring the girls.
dblue
lol, what's with the lesbian thing, that's not the first time I've heard that in reference to subaru.
TBrennan
Blue----The Subaru wagon is one of the preferred cars of gay women, like Wranglers and Sebring ragtops with gay guys. It's funny, once you learn this you see all kinds of interesting looking people driving the things. In my neighborhood anyway. ;-)

Something that between you and me I've known for quite some time now ! LOL ![{] [{]
Shade
Nice setup. Have you considered using a grill over the sub? Not sure if you load up the trunk that much, but I'd be concerned about not puncturing the woofer.
dblue
Yeah, I'm probably going to grill it once I'm done tweaking. That aluminum cone just looks so nice! Anyway, the forester is not exactly a wagon....it's sold and insured as an SUV and the let me keep my truck plates....but in reality it's a beefed-up impreza frame with a mini-suv top on it. So I guess that makes me half-lesbian...or half sports car..haha. Speaking of sports car, this thing is fast. The manual version will do 0-60 in 5.2... .1 seconds faster than a WRX. dblue
Oh yeah, BTW, was in Indy over the weekend, we drove to the Klipsch building in this baby. Unfortunately, it was Saturday, and they were closed.
thxsubwoofers
That soundsplinter subwoofer almost looks like a JL w7 subwoofer.
James RD
Nice car. Nice stereo. But it's still a stereo in a car.
kenratboy
lol, what's with the lesbian thing, that's not the first time I've heard that in reference to subaru. I think the Toronto Star rated the Forrester as the #1 ***** car. There is a similar reference on Audi forums reguarding the TT and teh gheyness (I lub u AWOT) Anyway, cool car. I need to keep an eye out of a Legacy or Outback GT with a stick. Fast cars, fun, cheap(ish), and cops don't even see them!
