SCOOTERDOG
Here are some pics of the framing going on. If you can see around my mess you will notice along the back where I framed out the area where the equip will go. I have started on the columns and hope to have these done by Friday. I am working on these at night until my wife say thats enough noise you can stop now. Hopefully I will have these done as I would like to finish wiring and sheetrocking this weekend. The double entry door should be in in another week so my goal is to finish up the wall before it comes in.

Tom Adams
Lookin' good scooter. Of course.......you do realize that you & I will value our HT more than Indy since we're actually doing the work instead of paying someone. Speedball
Looks good Scooter........Framing is the fun part.
SCOOTERDOG
hmmmm... Been working on the framing since the 1st and today is the 12th. Almost two weeks and still no drywall up. Thats what happens when you do two things at once. I got the initial framing done and I had forgotten to order all of my wall outlets for speakers, sub, component video, HDMI ..Oh My! well most of this stuff has finally come in and I started installing them yesterday. In the meantime I had started building the columns while waiting for parts. Well I have one column just about done, just got to add the shelves, acylic/Perf metal panels for the sconces. These will then be primed and then moved down stairs to the HT and put into place before I sheetrock. I also added in a storage area for my DVD's , cd's and Laserdisc's. Then I decided to add a 3" ball light in the top front where the equip will go so I can see what the heck I am doing. Because I decided to do this I now have to add another light switch and box, then re-route the electrical. Ok I'm tired now and will go to bed and dream of the things I forgot to do so I can toss and turn all night long only to dream I'm at Lowes wondering the isles looking for what I forgot. scooter

SCOOTERDOG
Umm yep I know I still have to put the header in above the entry way. I am waiting for my door to come in so I can make sure of all the measurments[]
IndyKlipschFan
It is kinda fun seeing all of your dreams come to reality isn't it? Take your time..do it right.. When your running wires make sure if you think they run to a position you may EVER go to again run plastic pipe (conduit) so you can get to where you need be again too... SCOOTERDOG
Yeap ran the conduit last night, I think I now have it together and only have to finish up the equipment area. My hope is I can start to do some sheetrock this weekend. My door came in yesterday and put in the final header for it last night. Can't install the door until sheetrock is up though. Got all my outlets in for the speakers and sub. The last wall plate I'm waiting for is the HDMI one, and this won't get here until the 19th. So sheetrocking will stop about a foot from the equipment area. But once I get one side up I can put in the insulation. Oh what joy this is...actually I am having fun but I wish I could blink my eye and it was completed. So many little things scooter
formica
Hey Scoot... you have any updated pics with all the rough done?
colterphoto1
yeah, but there's something about doing it yourself that make it special.... Remember to wire those walls before you put the drywall up! Michael
SCOOTERDOG
[] Wires! Oh no should I have done that? [] I will take some pics tomorrow. I just got back from the doc to have a nasty mole removed from my upper back just below my shoulder. So that means no work on it tonight, took 8 stiches but he said I could continue tomorrow just let it rest tonight. Opinions please... I am debating on placement of the columns. I was originally thinking about putting it in the middle of a beam and the duct. But after playing with speaker placement I think I want to move the columns (which will house the heresy's) towards the front right up against the beam. This would then allow me to place my other side surrounds, otherwise the colums are to far back and a second set of side surrounds are just not far enough apart. I think the back row would enjoy extra side surrounds. Besides If I keep the column in the middle the the heresy's are just enough further back then I like, sound wise. Anyway I attached a crude drawing to show you what I am talking about. Keep in mind the room depth is 26' and the heresy's would be about 17' back if I placed them in the center as shown in the drawing. I would like them at 13 1/2' because the front row is about 14' from the screen. Thoughts? scooter
formica
I'm not sure if I understand on how that fits into the room. It would be easier for us (ummm, me) to visualize if you added onto your original room layout drawing (plan view). I'm lazy, I know... SCOOTERDOG
Here lets try this. Here is a top view of the room. I was originally thinking of placing the column in between the duct and the beam. However, I find I like the sound better when the speaks are moved more towards the front up against the beam. My biggest thing is the look. In the center the column would be symetrical with the room due to the duct and beam but for sound, well as I said above. so the questionis I'm looking for some advise or thoughts as to what would you guys due?. And don't say do what you want because I will anyway but I could be swayed if everyone says no dude put it in the middle it will look better.[:'(]
