TBrennan
Yup, John Ford's Drums Along The Mohawk, 1939. That's John Carradine as the Tory ranger Caldwell, the scene where Caldwell and another Tory step out from behind the trees, Caldwell blows a whistle and then Indians appear from behind all the trees. Scared the bejeezus out of me when I was a kid. It was Ford's first Technicolor picture and has recently been gorgeously restored by Fox and released on DVD. In 17and82 a real Brit named Caldwell led a group of Tory rangers (including the infamous Simon Girty) and Great Lakes Indians from Detroit on a raid into Kentucky and bushwacked the Kentuckians at Blue Licks inflicting a disastrous defeat on them.
