Rudy81
I will soon be setting up my new HT and have Cornwalls for the side and rear effects. I need to raise the Corns about 2 feet off the floor and am looking for ideas on how to best lift these 100 punders off the floor in a reliable manner. Just wondering if any enterprising Heritage owners have a solution.
colterphoto1
why so high, do you have 5 foot high seats in there? My rule of thumb is, if you can turn around from you normal viewing/listening position and see the horns, you're okay. I don't know why they would need to have the tweeters nearly 5 feet off the floor. You're also going to lose a lot of bass from decoupling from the floor and going from a 1/4 sphere space to 1/2 sphere. Michael
cyclonecj
I just did a lot of experiments using Corns as rears, & had to build a 2' stand for them also. On the floor, they disappeared behind the sofa, & could not be heard. I just built a 3 sided box (open back) with a brace in the middle, & it seems very stable. They do loose bass, but in surround mode, there is not much difference. I will try to post pictures tonight when I get home. Anyone that went to Indy this last summer was in the Heritage sourround room & saw the Belle's in the back on the tables. Surrounds just seem much better when they are up high. Rudy81
I am trying to raise the rear effects above the high backs of the media chairs, and about 2' would do it. I would love to see your pictures. Thanks guys.
cyclonecj
Here is the CW on the back wall on the 2' stand. It's still under construction, which explains the stretched wiring & no grill cover. This is where it is compared to the Heresy's.
colterphoto1
Do you have kids? The reason I ask is that it looks like a very heavy weight on top of a tall, narrow cabinet sitting on carpet. Are you sure that is stable and a kid couldn't knock it over on themselves? Maybe making it an enclosed box with sandbag bottom section would make it more stable, and better coupled to the floor? cyclonecj
Everyone asks me that.... but it has been there for many years with no problem. They are really very stable, & only used for surround, so lower freqs are not even sent to it.
jacksonbart
Are there any fish alive in that fish tank? that the sub below must really rock them.
cyclonecj
And that would be the second most asked question...... Yes, they love it!.... I had a pair of angel fish that lived over 4 years. They normally go just over 2 years. The last time I posted that, someone else said that when he cranks his system, the water bounces out of the tank.
