theryugobuddy
I'll mention Pete Best again for missing out on the biggest opportunity of all time. Wasn't he thought to be a better drummer than Ringo too? We got a promotional copy of Reader's Digest two weeks ago that had the Beatles on the cover and promises to give the whole untold story (or at least an excerpt of it )-- They told mainly the story of Pete's outing and Ringo's courting by John and Paul. Apparently they had gotten tired of Pete's one-dimensional style, even George was annoyed. Pete kept great time, but the others couldn't stretch out when he was thumping the same beat over and over. Ringo was playing with a well-known band at a resort , and John and Paul came to see him and agreed to pay the bandleader if they could have Ringo. They thought he was much more of a "world-beater" than Pete. And almost immediately after he started playing with the Beatles, they had a better synergy. But they took alot of abuse for getting rid of Pete, because he was a crowd favorite-- It was an excerpt of a new biography coming out soon--maybe already has--
