Jeff Matthews
Welcome, Rock! The answer is any Klipsch you want to buy that are in that price range. The undisputed best is Klipschorn, which you can find used for $2,000. Next is either LaScala/Belle or Cornwall, depending on whose opinion you want. THe Belle is a prettier LaScala. You can pick up LaScalas for around $1,000-1,200 used. You can pick up the prettier Belles for around $1,200-$1,500 used. The controversy is the LaScala/Belle do not deliver the bass that the Cornwall does, but they do deliver more punch in the mids. You can get nice used Cornwalls for $600-800. All of these a kickin' speakers. You should feel comfortable getting used ones, as long as you get to see and hear them. If they sound fine, they're fine. Klipsch makes a good, durable speaker. Lots of used ones pop up here all the time. I would even trust buying some from some of the familiar members of this forum, sight unseen and sound unheard. Keep an eye out.
