Cornwall vs. La Scala for mains

Jeff,

Never having heard LaScalas I can't comment on them. I do believe they'd make fine fronts based on previous comments from other users on this forum.

I can state that I do love my 4 Cornwall setup, which includes RS-3's for rears as well. Having matching fronts & rears provides a great transition of sound from front to rear, and the RS-3's add that WDST ambience when watching movies. For HT watching they fill the rear area nicely with sound that's not localized to the rear Cornwalls. So I'm a bit biased toward the 4 Cornwall setup. I'd also like to have RC-7's for rear & sides additions as well.

Wes

Both speakers are excellent. The main difference between the two is that the La Scala has a basshorn, while the Cornwall uses a vented direct radiator for the bass section. This means that the La Scala will sound a little more dynamic in the bass area, and has a little bit tighter bass, but the Cornwall will go deeper. Overall, I think I prefer the sound of the La Scala SLIGHTLY over the Cornwall, but I do notice the lack of low bass in comparison to the Cornwall.
