Michael may know of more, but one of the oldest and most active is www.photo.net. Forum archives are extensive (maybe as big as this one). Search for answers before posting "newbie" questions, they are not nearly as friendly as we are here (i.e., some perennial egomaniacal a-holes who love to flame novices).

Another one focused (pun, ha-ha) specifically on portrait photography is www.zuga.net. It is not as much of a forum as it is an instructional website.

I mainly do (did) nature photography, so the big one is www.naturephotographers.net. They are very friendly on that one.

Thanks for asking, but I don't do many forums. I learn most of my stuff at intensive week long seminar. I belong to New England Institute of Professional Photography, they have a school in West Falmouth MA every spring that's extraordinary. Magazines and just networking with local professionals are good too.
