Tony Reed
Just saw a story on the national news where this guy in Ohio synchronized his house Christmas lights with music. I'd like to do this on a smaller scale... my Christmas tree. I realize it's done with a computer and some software, but what else do I need? Please educate me as to how to do this. colterphoto1
First get a lot of lights, and a computer, then some thingies to hook em all up. Then hook em up, it's easy. LOL Tony, I have NO idea, maybe some of that x.10 type plug in modules? But software????I'm sure there lighting designer software that churches, theatres and people use. Maybe theres a shareware version of one of those. I see laptop PC's in bars now where bands are doing light shows. We had those racks of dimmer packs and 24 channel slider boards... Daddy Dee
Well, I'm no help on how to do it. However, when you get it done, I want to come over to see it!
Tony Reed
Dee, You got it. Unfortunately, I may have waited too late for this year. Sure hope someone knows how to do this. Tony
Jay481985
make it like a slideshow.... I am not a movie maker or such but I think I know the concept. Kinda like the original matrix and how they did the 360 degree of neo dodging the bullets. They originally used 100 canons cameras in a complete 360 and then they would shoot in rapid succession. and then they spliced the film and then edited the cameras and safety line on neo. I'm guessing just that computer movie was spliced..... taking frame after frame and then editing them to the music. That can be done easily with adobe aftereffects.... As for real life.... I guess there is a power modulater that can be attached to a computer to run in cycles inline with music.
customsteve01
Tony, One company that makes everything you would need to do this is Light-O-Rama. http://store.lightorama.com/hobbyist-products.html Take a look at there website. customsteve01
Tony,Here is a little gizmo that will control 6 sets of lights and has 18 programs. I don't think it does it to music but it is cheap. Here is the link, http://www.skymall.com/webapp/skystore?process=prodDisplay&action=&pid=102091999&catId=12022Also did you notice what Light-oRama said on thier website "due to heavy unexpected orders we are temporarilly out of stock"I bet that video that is going around the internet and all the tv publicity the guy is getting is really boosting thier sales.Steve
