ARPRINCE
Looking to buy some SACDs. Found it hard to find, not too much option out there or at least artists that I would like to listen to. Anyway, found this seller from Hong Kong in ebay where he has like 2-3 SACDs that I like to purchase and fairly resonably priced. Inquired about the an SACD because on the picture that accompanies the item, it doesn't look like it is sealed. He replied back and I quote: "It is not sealed, like most of the CD/SACD manufactured in E.U. , they are original NOT sealed when they are made." How true is that? Jeff Matthews
There's a running thread on SACD in the 2-Channel forum. Post your question there. Somebody might know.
ARPRINCE
Thanks - I'll check it out. BTW, I also email a company that sells CDs, SACD, etc. based in Germany and he did confirm that. Weird eh?
boomer9911
99.9% they are pirated\copied. Having lived in Europe for 5yrs I can assure you when I went into a record store lp's\cd's\tapes were ALL sealed. I almost did business with Asia but decided against after doing research. Plus I have some pirated material from there and the quality really sucks!! It's hard to find a good selection of SACD or DVD Audio, but just keep hunting. Ebay is not to bad, but seems 90% of the time it's the same seller and titles with not the greatest of selections. I have bought several from the states that were good quality and price....good luck hunting, stay away from the Asian Imports....[]
nicholtl
acousticsounds.com musicdirect.com elusivedisc.com are all good hi-rez sources.
ARPRINCE
....good luck hunting, stay away from the Asian Imports....[] Ohhh....too late! I placed a bid on that SACD. Ohhh well. We'll see what I get if I win it. I bought 2 others from Amazon. acousticsounds.com musicdirect.com elusivedisc.com are all good hi-rez sources. I have been checking out acousticsounds. A few dollar more expensive than Amazon. BUY.COM is better priced but it takes 1-2 weeks to deliver the SACDs I want.
Steve_L
also, be clear that SACD is not necessarily multi-channel. There are numerous ways SACD is packaged and some SACDs are stereo and some are even mono. Still others are multi-channel and stereo. So, be clear about that. ARPRINCE
Yes - that's a good reminder. I thought all along that it was all multi-channel (prior to me having an SACD player).
