Colin
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> If one were to count the blessings of the day, beyond the pale blue sky that covers a crisp autumn day, one must confess that the work for the daily bread is sometimes easy. Often, though admittedly sometimes too frequently, it entails nothing more challenging than sitting in front of dual flat panel displays and merely pointing and clicking that wallet-size, handheld, device known as a mouse. For this activity to be bearable, some form of compensation beyond the daily bread must be forthcoming. Coupled to one of the most powerful computers on the planet are two ears. This mundane effort of clicking is made bearable by two black Stax electret headphones (cans, if you will) coupled to another palm size device, the devilishly capable $25 Sonic Impact digital (class T, if you will) amplifier. Into these cans and computer pours 18 gigs of the handiest music from home. Some good stuff, and some bad. But a day of listening and clicking hardly makes sitting and listening to the same music, even on a system as potentially wonderful as my classic Klipsch corner Khorns, the number one priority upon gaining foothold for the evening in the humble abode. Instead, the older, poorly recorded, yet more upbeat, active songs are the best ones for listening at work. The sedate, sensuous croonings of soulful women are best left for the shadows of the day at home. Do *** and other peppy tunes suit the office best. So, are there hard questions in all this bather? The answer is yes. · What music do you love at work, but leave behind at the day of the day? · What music do you listen to at work that you dont like at home? · What music is good at home on your superior sound system that you would never taint with playing it at work? · Is there some music that can go both ways: acceptable at work and at home? gary101050
I have the ability to listen to internet radio at work. I am a big classic rock fan and I tune into www.radiofreecolorado.net . If you like this genre of music, check it out. They play superior music, a lot of live cuts and best of all no commercials. The station owner/manager comes on once per day to make his pitch for donations to keep the station up and running. They broadcast at two bitrates, 192 and 64. I use the 64 at work to keep the lines somewhat open. the sound is superior, no breaks or lost connection. The owner really takes pride in making our listening experience a real pleasure. I turn it on from my arrival and don't turn it off until I leave. I listen it to it at home while on my computer and it is a pleasure
