Oh yes - one more thing - whilst we would have to ask Ami to be sure I would guess the Dragon thread was closed because the originator of the thread, Colterphoto, asked for it to be closed on 2 ocasions within the thread.

I certainly couldn't see anything in Mobile's response that would warrant closure by Ami - she has let far worse pass.

You are correct, Max. Colter did not intend for the thread to become argumentative and simply asked if anyone had heard from DF. Locking the thread had nothing to do with mobile.

I believe we are talking about two different individuals. One, the subject of the locked thread, is dragonfyr. The other one is the unidentified-to-us person who made a rude suggestion to Amy. The issues involved in the two cases are considerably different. dragonfyr, for instance, owned Klipsch speakers before Amy was even born. Banning him is outrageous.

What on earth does owning Klipsch speakers before I was born have to do with anything? That's gives you license to offend?

AGAIN, you have no idea what you're are talking about. The offensive threads in question are gone, as are the new people who were simply looking for help. End of story.

Jimmy, that might go to show that Amy is

alot more tolerant than she might otherwise be. And, of course,

there are degrees of everything. Nothing new about that.

Ms. Unger,

I did not compare you to Hitler, just your statement.

Read what you wrote as if it were written by someone else, in the context of a discussion on censorship, or the Patriot Act or whatever you wish.

Sorry, I'm not seeing how this is censorship at all, or anything wrong with what I wrote. This is a private forum--you must be a member to post. We own this forum, we can remove it at any time with no lawful repercussions.

AMY, well said! I don't know why this is confusing to some people. It's a privalege to be here - NOT a right.

Are the posters like the one with the vulgar reference to fellatio in the Diana Krall thread banned?

Are they good representatives of the image Klipsch wants to project?

Must be, because the genitals, bodily functons, sexual comments, drinking etc. etc. etc. seldom seem to raise an eyebrow. Depravity and profanity seem to go unchecked here.

Selected offenders and offended, as well as I can tell.

As long as everybody's happy, filth is fine.

The difference is those comments were just in poor taste. The thread is not tolerated (believe it or not, I have other responsibilities around here and can't spend all my time reading every post), but no one was banned. They were not abusive to anyone directly.

Do I really need to defend myself here? I guess not. After all, I am "queen." Off to better things...

As much as I liked reading dragonfyr's pretty informative posts, and I will miss his posts. I have to side with Amy.

Here's how I look at this forum. It's like a club. Amy, Trey, whoever are the bouncers walking around making sure nobody's getting into a fights or acting too obscene. If someone gets in a fight they'll be talked down, but if someone swings at the bouncer, your *** is out the door.

Klipsch owns this club, it's their rules, free speach etc don't apply in a private establishment. It's not like were the one's paying for klipsch's bandwith bills to host these forums and all our pictures on it.

I agree with Amy and Dr. Who. Being rude and vulgar to one another is bad enough, but, if you can't be civil to the moderator, don't expect to be welcomed back. Amy sets the rules, if you don't like them, find another sandbox.

and I most whole heartedly agree with you, sir.

I visit afew other sites as well... and each has their own "rules-of-engagement". . .

on one, you might find members posting PICs scantily clad, if clad at all women interspursed with all manor of Harley-Davidson technical info while on an other, posting such a PIC will get you "banned" without hesitation let alone explaination.

Yet in ALL my info hwy travels, I have not yet encountered a site who's moderators tolorate an abusive member's lashing...

while to some, behaving appropriatily in a PG-13 rated forum may present to big of a challenge, I welcome it.

I can probably count the number of people I've permanently banned from this forum on one hand.

It is NOT censorship, Jeff. Sorry. It is not allowing a person to join for not following the rules. Please do not compare it to racism, sexism, or any other ism you are trying to pin on me.

Are you saying that slander and libel are unconsitutional charges?

For a miniscule civil liberties lesson, please note that the First Amendment actually says that CONGRESS shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech. It doesn't say that people have the right to say whatever they want.

There are also NO provisions that Klipsch need provide a soapbox as well

What are you talking about?

All I'll say is if someone joins our forum to innocently seek help with one of our products, NO ONE will hinder that customer's confidence in doing so. That is offensive...to ME.

Time to drop it yet?

And thanks for everyone else's support. I'm glad you "get it" without needing things spelled out.

I don't think I have ever seen a more dissapointing thread on this forum.

Of all the forums I have participated in on the internet, our Klipsch

hosts have gone above and beyond what is needed to facilitate a

forum. They have treated many of you like family including

facilitating donations for lost members, and keeping threads at the top

for those in need of support.

The BEST that can be gained from a thread like this is to leave our

moderator (Amy) wondering what happened and why now. The WORST

that you could see is some radical changes to the way Klipsch handles

this forum in the future or even possible closure of the forum.

What are you hoping to gain by arguing rights on a private forum?

Take it somewhere else! Klipsch has the right to ban anyone they wan't

with or without a warning!

Amy, I want to take this moment to thank you for all of your hard

work. You really have been there time and again for everyone on

this forum, even us lurkers.

If I had to guess, it appears to me that some people here have found a

way to vent there holiday stress at the expense of someone (Amy) who

has done nothing to deserve it!

I think this thread, and both sides of the discussion are utter rubish.

The rude and insolent manner my first post here was responded to, gives

me reason to seriously doubt anyone's sincerety with regards to this

debate.

I'm not sure why I'm even reading or posting here, guess it's

like that hammer. Why are you hitting yourself in the head with

it?

Because it feels so good when I stop.

Some of what I am reading here is just absurd. I have heard in

our popular media about the increasing sense of "entitlement" rampant

in our culture, but I have taken all that with a grain, but here is the

perfect example.

You are not "entitled" to be a jerk, ever. Much less a rude,

condescending, defamatory, argumentative, pin head. Ever.

No more than you would be able to go into the theater and yell "fire"

(there is a limit to your so-called first amendment rights - and kudos

for you Amy in correctly reciting the public vs. private nature of free

speech). What this or any other forum lacks is the personal

consequences that used to come with your being a jerk at an

inappropriate time, namely getting your teeth rearranged. The

wonderful internet allows the revenge of the weak, so that they may

cower behind their computer screens and be patently and most of the

time unreasonably offensive, without any recourse. Enter the need

for moderators; in this evolved society, we shouldn't require them but

here they are, because folks can't figure out how not to be tools, nope

they are "entitled" to be as vicious and small as they want.

The idea that somehow hiring black people at Denny's even

remotely has any bearing on a private forum policy is well just

absolutely laughable, first because the law has defined those persons

who require protection from discrimination as a "class", that generally

being blacks, women, seniors, the handicapped and children.

Stating that somehow old, rude long time speaker owners somehow deserve the same

protections as the disadvantaged minorities or elderly of this country, is at

first ridiculous and is secondarily offensive.

You are not "entitled" to say anything you want, you are not "entitled"

to free handouts, or to unlimited government assistance, or to abuse

the hospitality of our hosts, who in this matter happen to be

Klipsch. He (or SHE) who hold the keys makes the rules,

that is how it is in my car, in my house and on this forum. In

your forum you may treat anyone how you choose, in this forum, you will

do what you are told if you wish to participate, that is simple even

for those of you who beleive yourself smarter than the rest of us.

And by the way, I was one of those poor schmucks who owned a Promedia 5.1

system whose amp went bad out of warranty, and I too thought Klipsch

handled it very very poorly, and I thought the criticism that Dragonfyr

heaped on the upset newbie was harsh and unnecessary, because at the

time I wanted to tear someone's head off too. SO what does that make

me? Before you answer, view my sig below.

Sorry Amy, I think you do a great job, keep it up. **Illegitimi Non Carborundum**

ummm, although this forum is funded by a private company, there IS NO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY on the Internet. It is a rule of law. This is in fact a public forum. So is your cell phone. Those are not private conversations- there is no expectation of privacy. Do not plot to overthrow the governement or discuss any crimes here or on your cell phone.[:(]

Now I see. dragonfyr, who has owned Klipsch speakers for decades, is banned because he was rude to a poor, helpless newbie who wanted to instigate a class action lawsuit against Klipsch. This is well into insanity territory.

Parrot,

You are REALLY testing my patience. This has NOTHING to do with the class action lawsuit guy. You have NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

And I hope you're enjoying yourself for re-posting this nonsense and watching people argue. It is what you are good at.
