Noticeable difference between RF-25 and RF-3 II speakers?

I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of RF-3 II speakers for the same price that I bought my RF-25s for. I don't think I'd have any problems selling my RF-25s for at least what I paid for them.

My question is, is it worth the hassle? I'd be able to drive and get the RF-3 IIs so there wouldn't be any shipping charges I'd have to pay.

The specs seem pretty similar - 97db/1 watt versus 98db/1 watt. Do the 8" woofers make a noticeable impact on the sound?

Thanks!

  • 3 years later...

heard the rf 25s in a shop

have the rf3s myself at home

the shop demo room was big n wooden with reflections n stupid acoustics

but so is my room ,lolz, but half the size

though the rf 3s r a powerfull speaker

u can literally throw tons of watts at it without distress but the rf 25s were also pretty strong

however the larger woofer did have an edge,in handling of louder notes

rf3s go louder ,bigger better n less harsh

even when i play em placed in my living room wch is twice my room

and feels strong everywhere

Wuzzer ive had both and listened to them in detail..The RF 25 s have a smaller sound stage and a much tighter bass than the RF 3 s. Id go with the RF 3 IIs. if your getting a good deal its a no brainer. also the RF 3 IIs have a great midrange sound..i loved mine...look at audioreview.com..they have more reviews on those RF 3s than any other klipsch speaker ever made..Klipsch put them together very well
