Ok I been on the hunt for RF-7 for the past year... There is a local

electronics store that is pretty big in New Jersey being they have

about oh 8 stores. I went to two previous stores about a year and

another in june. J and R quoted 1600 no tax a pair which was great at

the time but I wasn't that serious. Then last June i went to the same

company in a different location. They quoted me no BS 1600 with no

payment for a year if I did their credit card. I'm 20 but have

substancial credit already, in the high 700's so getting approved is no

problem. I wanted to soo bad but there were lots of things that crossed

that I just could not..... anyways, today I went to the same company

different location, one closer. I went there straight in to the Klipsch

room, listened to the iPod I brought, yeah I know its not the best way

but I don't wanna carry cds and so forth. Ok first thing he said

Klipsch is great but then went on going I think they have 10 inch

speakers, he wasn't really knowledgable as many of us forum members. Ok

so then I listen for a good 30 minutes but he keeps turning the volume

up while I was putting it down on my iPod.... He thinks I want all spl

and no quality. Ok some songs just are not meant to be played at 115

db. I wished he actually left the room in which he did a few times to

kinda wink at the manager to say he got a bite. I really want the RF-7

now since next month the new rf-83 are coming out and I am not so

impressed plus I think now is the best time to purchase as they I would

have thought would discounted a bit further to move inventory. Though

intermediately the salesman kept turning on the RSW15 in which I said I

rather not have on since I wanted just to hear the RF-7. Though on bass

songs he kept turning the rsw on since he was sitting on it. He laughed

and I just kinda shook my head internally. Ok down to business, he said

the price is what was labeled. A whopping $1998 for a pair. I know

thats pretty much MSRP but then he said you know Bose with a coworker.

I'm like yeah Better off with something else and they both gave me a

WTF look at me like I just commited heresy. Their like well just like

Bose, Klipsch has a minimum selling price that they cannot go lower. I

was like well J and R said 1600 a year ago and your own company at X

location said 1600 june. In which I hastily pulled out the saleman's

card and quote (I came prepared [;)]). They looked dumbfounded and then

just kinda asked the manager. Then the managers said we can do 1800 I

was like huh? Klipsch is going to release the RF-83 next month and

these are going to be discontinued! There like well Klipsch is a very

good seller and we can't keep this model in stock? I looked puzzled....

I know that yes Klipsch sells alot of RF-7 but they made it seem like

the flagship was the top seller which rarely ever is the case. Anyway I

was the only serious buyer in the store as everyone else kinda came in

looked at the price and then just looked at some HTIB. I think im going

to go to the other location and talk to other saleman that did not BS

with me. Just needed to vent...

Obviously they didn't want the sale that bad. If you would have stuck around the store long enough you probably would have got them to go down to $1600. Must have been some rookies on the job that night.

If you're able to finance them at $1600, that is a very good deal.

I was quoted 1600 a year ago and their technically discontinued since

the ces release of the RFIV series.... so I'm shooting for sub 1600

maybe 1400, 1200 would be an on the spot credit card, 1000 would be in

cash lol

edit maybe since I'm only 20 years old they thought that I don't have

the cash nor credit to buy the rf-7 they never even asked about amps or

recievers the whole time..... I should have shown them my American

Express Platinum... I don't pay 400 a year membership to have a no

preset limit and not to use it!
