dmingz
i recently bought some Forte I's and i need an amp to power them. I'd like to keep it simple, without all the "Hi-Fi" and home theater stuff (I guess that means old) and preferably not too expensive. Any objections to an old sansui or other suggestions? DrWho
you should look into one of the old Harmon Kardon HK 330, 630 or 730. Any of them will sound great with the Forte's, and it has a very nice phono and tuner section as well. They can typically be found on ebay for around $50-$100. arfz28
Try one of these vintage receivers, Harmon Kardon 430,630 or 730, they go from 50 to about 125 bucks depending on model and condition, you just cant go wrong with one of these for the money and if you decide too sell you will get your investment back. Another nice receiver is a sansui 7070, 8080, 9090 they will cost you more though, especially the 8080 or 9090,you might get a 7070 in the 100 to 125 dollar range though if you are lucky. Also the pioneer SX-780 can be bought for around 75 to a hundred bucks and it is a nice choise also. A pioneer SX-980 a little more power than the SX-780 is a nice receiver but will cost in the 150 dollar range.

classichits
I would look at a Mitsubishi DA-P10 pre amp with matching DA-A15 power amp. This is a dual monoral sytem. I have this set up driving my LS. They are available on EBay. This amp is a 150 watts/channel. If you don't need that much power, look at the DA-A10 power amp. It's 100 watts/ channel. I use my amp and LS for DJing and they were bought in 1978. If you look carefully on EBay. You can probably find matching tuner and power meters. oldbuckster
How about a Sony STR-D1011 receiver rated at 120wX2 this unit is as good as any sansui type unit. $125.00 and you pay shipping or possible pick-up, or I could meet you somewhere. I bought it brand new, and it still looks and performs that way. Just a thought!!! I ran kg4's with this unit, plus a sub nice sounding package.
