mtber101
Hey all, I'm looking to get a sub to go with my: RB-75x2 RC-7 RS-7 x2 Soon I'll be adding RF-7's and moving the rb-75's into the bedroom until I get a bigger place. I want the best of both worlds... music and movies. I listen to music more than movies but when I want to watch a movie I wouldn't mind being able to crack some drywall. My music taste includes just about everything. I've been looking at the SVS PB12 Ultra/2. Any advice on what to go with would be great. $2000 would be about my limit. cheers Ben
Speedball
"crack the drywall".........should be easy with that budget...lol. The RSW 15 is supposed to be a perfect match with your speakers.

CECAA850
The PB12Ultra2 should prevent a future upgrade in the sub department for quite some time. It gets my vote. Especially for movies.
DrWho
Infinite Baffle If you can swing it, you will have the best of every subwoofer world...and for $2k you're talking a killer setup.
mtber101
Thanks for the input guys. How is the SVS for music? I'll have to look into the Infinite Baffle. But I'm having trouble finding them...could you give me a link or even some details? Thanks Ben
CECAA850
Here's a site with info on IB's. http://ibsubwoofers.proboards51.com/
CECAA850
Mine is an array formation. Manifold mounting is a little more discrete.

AVPhile135722
In that price range, I would probably go with one of Definitive Technology's SuperCube models. The SuperCube 1 has a powered 12" driver, plus two 12" passive radiators. The SuperCube Reference is the same setup, but uses 14" drivers. These subs can play very loud and tight, they sound great. Either model would be less than $2000.

mtber101
Well being in an apartment and only being here until August I don't think the Infinite is the way to go. However I'll be keeping them in mind for a later date. I don't have to spend 2k.... just the max, So I've been thinking about just going with the rsw-15. From what I hear they are very musical? How are they for movies?
Wrench722
I have two of them (RWS-15) and they will rock your world. You can get a good deal on them on Klipsch EBay.
DrWho
the RSW-15 is very musical....and ranked #3 on Nousaine's chart (which I can't seem to find...)
sivadselim
the RSW-15 is very musical....and ranked #3 on Nousaine's chart (which I can't seem to find...) #4, but it's becoming quite dated and certainly nowhere near all-inclusive
DrWho
thanks for the correction and the link [] Though it's outdated, it still works as a good comparison tools in the case that someone has had experience with any of the other subs in the list. In fact, it really only works as a comparison tool because I've seen other measurements of the RSW-15 boasting stronger 16Hz reproduction as well as way more output at 20Hz...(same thd limits too). But that just goes to show how large of an impact the room has on low frequency acoustics.

OneTwoMany
rant A good subwoofer is good, a bad subwoofer is bad. What is so complicated about this?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> There is no such thing as "this is only good for music" or "this is only good for movies" Its either good for both or bad for both. Movies have music and music has sound effects. If a subwoofer can reach lower octaves it doest imply its reserved for movies only. Klipsch subwoofers are good for both, so are SVS. get this this subwoofer happens to be musical notion out of your heads.. Its a freaking subwoofer not a singer. Thank you. /end rant.
