mpmiller1980
I have read articles about cat5 cables how would you internally wire a klipsch with these wires, would it be worth it?
Joe Shmoe
I remember way back when.... there was quite a discussion about using CAT5 for speaker wire.... I can't remember how many pairs were needed to braid together, all I rememeber was that it took quite a while & from what was said... sounded pretty good. I myself can't see going through all that trouble, for probably a minimal increase in quality, if any. Do a search on CAT5 & see if the older threads on this come up. Joe Shmoe
Actually there are quite a few threads on this... I did a search & came up with a whole list. Here's one you may be interested in? http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/270590.aspx
consistent
I have done it! Beleive you me that it is time consuming and not good for your nails or teeth (I did it the old fastioned way) but I really think it was worth it. I used Belden Cat5, stripped the 'blue' outer casing away and combined the inner cables (single core teflon). Mine was only 2m per side times 3. It works on the old principle the 'thicker the better'! A bit like me!
Daddy Dee
MPM, I use CAT5 for speaker cables, not interior wiring. A friend braided them for me, which is a considerable task. BTW, noticed your tagline. Is that a true story about your DIY sub?
