John Young has been a fixture on the Chicago jazz scene for about 60 years and is still playing with Von Freeman occaisionally--even though he's well into his 80's and even by Von's admission "is losing it." But he was a really, REALLY fine pianist and this was his debut LP from 1956. Gary, Scott (boomac), Arrto and I heard him play with Von last fall. This was relased on CD in Japan not long ago and I think it's still in print.
