Crackerman
What CD do you use to test speakers, CD players, etc.....?
Mike Lindsey
The Stereophile Test CD's are pretty good ones. You might want to get yourself a Radio Shack SPL meter while you're at it. Mike
Rivendell61
Checkpoint Audio (Netherlands/Eelco Grimm) has an interesting 2 CD set. A bit different from the many test CDs more readily available. Just waiting for the English version..... http://www.checkpointaudio.nl/uk/applications/index.htm Mark
thebes
I like the Stereophile Test CD 3 for basic dialing in a system, setup HT etc.. I also recommend supplementing that approach with good recordings that you know inside and out. Ones with hand claps, cymbals are good indicators of realism, and you also want stuff that will will demonstrate width of and depth of soundstage. Here's a good thread from awhile ago with a lot of suggestions: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/672012.aspx
jt1stcav
The band "311", the album "Transistor", recorded in HDCD. Organist Jean Guillou performing "Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition" on the Dorian label (CD-90117). Any of the Stereophile classical/jazz CDs.
