whamo
I've got my caps for my b2 networks today. I'm not gonna mess with them till friday though. It'll give me something to do while my daughter is at the senior prom. I'll let you all know what I think. Mark

whamo
Actually I might change them out tonight if I'm still up to it after work today. Actually her boyfriend is coming and staying overnite afterwards( on the couch!! ). He's actually pretty cool. When he turned 18 last year and I asked him are you gonna get drunk tonight and he said no. Then I asked him what in the heck is the matter with you kids today? whamo
Hey 2 10uf's in paralel is 20uf right? Anyways that's what I remember it as lol. My network isn't as easy as Chop's. I mounted the 2uf cap and the 3uf cap, strapped the 2 10uf caps to the top of one of them and hot glued them as well. Now I just have to solder them in paralel correct?? I'm happy to have gotten this far tonight I'll finish tommorow. Chaos! Mark
BEC
Mark, Yes, the two 10s in parallel make a 20 uF. Bob
whamo
Well I replaced my caps friday night I was gonna take some pics but my camera was dead. Turns out the batteries were dead and my power supply was shot. So I bought a new one and it's all good. Anyways I had a few cocktails and listened to them and something wasn't right. The high mids or the low highs sounded really kinda dirty or out of phase or something. Maybe cold solder joint I thought so then I took the ss amp out and hooked up my st-70. Still sounded bad. I gave it a rest. Yesterday I replaced the ancient monster cable for the speakers, still a little improvement but not good. I switched sources and that's what it was. It is either my little cheap toshiba creating distortion or rolling of at those frequencies or it could be the interconnections for that. I'll try tonight. Overall after listening with a decent source there is a definate improvement in the sound of my corns and I'm happy with the results. I just wonder why I never heard the defective sounds b4. chops
Once you sit and listen for a while with the new caps, you'll find a bunch of things you didn't hear before. [] BTW, what exactly on the B2 network takes 20uF?! That network must be quite a bit different from the stock Type B. [:^)] And yes, I can't wait to see the pics. whamo
OK, I'll take some pics tonight when I get home. Lol, I forget what the 20 uf's went to. I did the replacements in the same manner you did one piece at a time. The original 20uf is HUGE. The network also calls for a 2uf and a 3 uf cap. It has inductor and 2 autoformers. BTW chops I like all the work you've been doing and appreciate the cool pics. Mark
whamo
Also my corns have the k51 so maybe that's why the network is different.
chops
I don't know, but I'm kind of thinking that maybe that 20uF is for the woofer. Not sure though. And thanks for the kind words. What can I say, I like takong pics of my mods. []
Guest " "
yes, woofer section, as a shunt, see pic B2.pdf
chops
yes, woofer section, as a shunt, see pic Ah... So the K-33 must be rolled off a little early instead of being allowed to run all the way out like on the Type B. Thanks fritz.

whamo
Here's the old caps. Look at the size of that aye? Forgive my cheesy pics. I know it's nothing great but chops wanted to see em I guess... Mark
chops
Thanks for the pics Mark. I hope you didn't go out of your way to take those pictures just for me.
whamo
No not really, because I needed to refinish the back of the cornwall. Some little kids drew all over the back of one of them with pernament marker. That's how I purchased them. So I lightly sanded the back and applied some minwax oak stain. It looks much nicer now.
