Marvel
We have a series of free Friday night concerts through the summer here in Chattanooga. Just got the lineup in the mail for this year. They always have a variety, with some years being better than others. A local band always opens for the main act. Besides getting to hear some different music, you sometimes get to hear some good local artists. Or forgettable ones too... Really wanting to hear the Sun Ra Arkestra. Be interesting to go hear Susan Cowsill (remember the Cowsills?). She supposedly has a dynamite new solo album out. Plus, a band from the college where I work, Third Lobby, will be opening for an Irish rock band later in the summer. Local band member Dan Landrum, plays hammered dulcimer and toured with Yanni a couple of years ago. Dan's own group is really good. It's going to be a nice summer for music here. Marvel
Forgot to mention the Riverbend Festival, running June 9-17. The Allman Bros. will be there. Not free, but also an outdoor venue. Multiple stages with lots of big names and tons of locals as well. A pin to get in is $27 for the week, if you get it by June 8. After that it's $36. Most of the shows are killer, but the main stage draws over 60,000 fans. Riverbend 2006 musical entertainment includes: The Allman Brothers, Hank Williams, Jr., Trisha Yearwood, Kenny Rogers, Los Lonely Boys, Sugarland, Angie Stone, Jagged Edge, Audio Adrenaline and many, many more. This is the 26th year, and the festival is in the top 10% of festivals in the country.
