Some people on the Home Theater Forum are saying that Interlaced DVD + Sony DRC technology has better picture/image quality than HDTV + Progressive Scan DVD. Is this true?

I have a Sony 51" Hi-Scan RPTV and I find IMO that the picture quality with a progressive scan DVD player is quite noticeably superior to an interlaced signal with the DRC. I have compared my older Toshiba non-progressive with the HK DVD 50 both interlaced and progressive and with the Pioneer Elite DV-C36 both interlaced and progressive. Every time, the progressive seems much sharper and smoother than the interlaced signal. As far as the best progressive DVD player for me, I'm still in search of it.
