Volsfan846
While I am here, maybe I could get an opinion on a new HT receiver. I am trying to decide between a HK 7300 and a Yamaha 2600. Both are 7.1, both up-convert the video signal. The Yamaha has HDMI and the HK doesn't. I imagine the HK will sound a bit better, but not really sure how much. I have never owned HK. I have had Denon, Onkyo and Yamaha before. Speakers are Heritage and Classic mixed (CW Fronts, Heresy Center, Forte Surrounds) Any thoughts or anyone who has heard or seen both? Thanks. erickoegle
if your tv/dvd takes HDMI/DVI definately go for the Yamaha.
Arky
I have used an h/k 7200 & liked the non shrill sound. Not familiar with Yamaha but seems quite a few use it with good results.
DrWho
Which Denon, Onkyo and Yamaha units have you had? And which did you prefer? Yamaha tends to be a bit more bright whereas Denon is on the dry side. HK is somewhere inbetween, but on the warm side. Gross generalities, but probably not too far from comparisons across same price points. For the kind of money you're spending, you might want to consider the alternative of going seperates. Get yourself a nice multi-channel amp that mates well with all your speakers and then you can update your pre/pro as the future formats change. You can probably do seperates for the same price, but you might have to search a bit for units with the video processing you're looking for. oldbuckster
One more to confuse you, take a look.........www.outlawaudio.com ......Yamaha's good....
Tom Adams
I'm with OB and DrWho. For the price of the HK you can get into separates from Outlaw. There's been a few here who've used Outlaw's amps with Heritage and have reported good results sound-wise. And their pre/pro's are pretty decent units that will give some other pricey units a run for their money. A friend here at work bought one of Outlaw's pre/pro & amp packages and has Forte II's. He told me he was VERY pleased with his purchase. Anyhow....it's worth considering IMHO. OTOH - if you're just looking for the simplicity of having all the guts in one box, you might wanna give a look-see at Rotel. Just a thought. Good luck and report back! Raider
I would think a Yamaha would pair well... http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1279&highlight=klipsch I will know for sure before long.....
Volsfan846
Well, not sure what you guys think these things sell for. You can get a new HK7300 for about $950 off Amazon and I picked up a factory refurbished Yamaha 2600 for $670. I dont think you can get seperates for that kind of money with any quality. Anyway, thanks a bunch for the suggestions. I went with the Yamaha. I will let you know how it turns out...
colterphoto1
I have the Yamaha 2400- VERY happy with it. Not bright in any fashion with LS, CW, H or any of a number of Klipsch speakers I've used it with. Bright is in the room. M
