big_gto
Thinking of upgrading my Heresy II woofer to Eminece Delta-12LFA. Anyone with experience with this woofer? Want more bass without having to rely on a sub, which I already have. Always looking for something to upgrade.
djk
The Eminence Delta-12LFA is more efficient, so it has less bass (not much though). It does have more x-max, so ultimately it can play louder with more power in. A 2 cu ft 2nd order sealed box with an F3 of 30hz can only be 0.18% efficient (84.55dB). A 2 cu ft 4th order vented box with an F3 of 30hz can only be 0.36% efficient (87.56dB). A 2 cu ft 6th order vented box with an F3 of 30hz can only be 0.90% efficient (91.54dB). Move the F3 up to 60hz and the sealed box will now be 93.55dB, make it 4 ohms and it will be 96.55dB, and you have the H II. The 6th order vented box is interesting. If we bump up the F3 to 40hz we will gain 3dB, or 94.54dB, and another 3dB for going to a 4 ohms woofer, or 97.54dB. This would have about the same F3 as the Cornwall, and only be 3dB less efficient. Daddy Dee
To my sense of bang for the buck, the Heresy II is already optimised for all one can get out of that cab.
freddyi
The 6th order vented box is interesting should be a nice project using Heresy mid and tweeter. EV's Interface EQ boxes found cheap on ebay would come pretty close to tuning without tweaking. IIRC Interface A box peaks 6dB ~39Hz so a new back panel with vent would work (?) - would pym1298 TS be too far off?:(all got laying around) DC resistance: 5.28 ohms * Frequency range: 40-4,000 Hz * Magnet weight: 95 oz. * Fs: 46.9 Hz * SPL: 97.8 dB 1W/1m * Vas: 4.02 cu. ft. * Qms: 5.69 * Qes: .29 * Qts: .28 * Xmax: 3.2 mm
