tom b. 57
Scott 299D on craigs for $300.00. Seller says it has been gone through by a tech. Says everything works fine. Is this a good amp/preamp? Does it have a good phono stage? Any noise with this unit? How many watts per channel? Anybody out there got info. for me? Seadog
The 299D is a very nice integrated amp. At approximately 34 wpc, it has plenty of power to push efficient speakers. The phono stage is very good considering it is an integrated amp. Everything I just said assumes it has been service by a qualified tech. Craig (NOSValves) is the master for those old Scott amps. If you buy this one, I highly recommend that you let Craig go through it.
Audio Flynn
When correctly updated it is better sounding than any 1000 usd integrated amp of today. New tube integrateds of today are only passive preamp stages. Scott phono sections to me are top of the line for vintage components. If cosmetics are good 300 is not an unreasonable price.
