pmsummer
In my estimation, they were barely in control of their instruments at the time. Well, being as John Cale had been given a full scholarship to Julliard, and Lou Reed had already been a professional musician for about 15 years at the time, I believe you are mistaken. Having heard the Velvets live a couple of years after this album came out, I can assure you they were VERY good musicians, and knew EXACTLY how to get the sound they wanted. But it doesn't mean you have to like it. []
coda
2nd auctions rarely go as well. Though I might have waited out a bit longer for responses from underbidders before relisting it, or quickly jumped on the December auction at ItsOnlyRocknRoll.com since it had a Velvet Underground category. Deal or no deal, $25K isn't a bad return, minus eBay and PayPal fees, and whatever he was paying Vinyl to list it.
