MilesSpathelf
Are the Marantz monoblocks (esp the MA6100) decent amps? Just curious ------------------ Miles
boa12
yea except for the funny lil chemical burn like smell, my new ma6100 works/sounds great for my C7 rear center. & was only about $200 new off net. a fine match with my acurus 200five amp too. hope that smell goes away soon though ------------------ My Home Systems Page
aab3rd
I use a MA-6100 for my rear center as well. I use a Marantz MM-9000 for the other five chanels and I love both amps. boa My 6100 does not have that smell. Maby you are over exerting it with your Klips speakers. LoL. Hagood
My Yamaha has impressive aromas of currant, mineral and berries with silky mushroom and bark undertones...... Oops, sorry - I thought I was on my Wine Spectator BB for a minute there !!!!
justin_tx_16
Boa, there might be a reason that it was only 200 bucks... LoL! Where did you find it?... boa12
it really is a good high current amp. probably would do fine driving big towers. & it's bridgable though I do only have 1. the price was just a good net deal. it retails for well above $400. think/hope it's still breakin/burnin in ------------------ My Home Systems Page
oogins
I've talked to a couple dealers that carry the Marantz Monoblocks, and they said the sound will be very bright if used with Klipsch speakers. Do you guys agree with this?
aab3rd
oogins, Not at all. The sound is very smooth. Now the Pioneer reciever I used to use for Pro Logic-- that was a tad bright.(Still not a bad sound though) aab
boa12
that shows the varied opinions out there. most dealers (mainly for denon ) i've talked 2 say that marantz amps are 2 warm & fuzzy. this ma6100 is definitely not bright to my ears. it's more warm and smooth like my acurus 200five. u might want to also look at their 200watter ma700 though the 6100's fine for my rear center c7. ------------------ My Home Systems Page
boa12
well sorry to report, my marantz ma6100 apparently got a lil 2 warm & fuzzy. now it's shutting down at moderate (to me ) levels. blue led blinks when it cuts out which I would imagine means the protection circuit is activated. but funny the joke of a manual has no mention of a blinking blue light (typical marantz here). & it's still stinkin up the joint w/ that smell too. probably just a unusual turkey unit. well off to the online (legacy/uncle's) return process. whish me luck. ------------------ My Home Systems Page
