  1. Well, 150 db is supposed to be able to stop the human heart... http://www.straightdope.com/columns/010406.html ------------------ Miles This message has been edited by MilesSpathelf on 02-06-2002 at 03:13 PM
  2. I was just curious what people thought about the differences between these two nice bookshelves. My local dealer sold out of RB-5's and I only got to hear the 3's and I was impressed. Thanks for your time ------------------ Miles
  3. Hello all, I just got a nice pw-2200 as a present and was wondering about cables. I'm in college so I'll be moving around a lot the next couple of years and was curious if it would be better to get a cable that might be longer than I need right now...but I might need the extra length later. Would the extra length hurt the performance significantly?...I'm looking at 8 meters right now. Thanks for any help ------------------ Miles This message has been edited by MilesSpathelf on 12-26-2001 at 07:12 PM
  4. I'm looking at getting some nice bookshelf speakers for a 2 channel system. I loved the rb-5's, but I just wanted to here about some other possibilities to try out before I buy. I've heard good things about some of the paradigms, but I haven't had a chance to listne yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ------------------ Miles
  5. Are the Marantz monoblocks (esp the MA6100) decent amps? Just curious ------------------ Miles
  6. Hello all, I'm new to higher end audio, the promedia's got me introduced, and I was wondering if it was possible to use a sound blaster audigy as a preamp until I purchase a NAD. After visiting my local Klipsch dealer, I've become intrigued by a RB-5 II and marantz ma6100 combo (monoblock amplifiers). I would appreciate any advice. Also, does anyone happen to know if the paradigm pw-2200 matches well with the RB-5's? Thanks for your time ------------------ Miles This message has been edited by MilesSpathelf on 11-26-2001 at 11:01 PM
  7. Hello, I was just wondering if there were any plans to make an RB-7, considering that there are RB-5's and 3's. Thanks for your time, Miles ------------------ Miles
  8. my sentiments exactly... ------------------ Miles
  9. I can't believe that all of these people are complaining about klipsch releasing better products. I mean no one is forcing you to buy these great new products. I still have the original v.2-400's and I'm extremely happy. I guess some people just like companies that don't have great engineers that think up new ideas to improve products. I'm also very tired of these paradigm people...if they haven't noticed this is a klipsch board and we don't need someone to keep telling us that there are better products out there if we spend more money...that's just common sense ------------------ Miles
  10. Heck yeah the Paradigms are great speakers, I'm just saying that I feel the 5.1's are a good deal for (people in the US because they seem to be less expensive here) those that have 5.1 cards with analog output (AE, SBlive 5.1). I mean for the price of a good HT subwoofer you get a full set a pretty good speakers. ------------------ Miles
  11. Yeah you can by the speakers to a nice HT setup, but that's about it for $800 CAN, or $517 US (no receiver, dvd player, speaker wire etc...) And what do you have against Klipsch anyway they make a great product at a very good price, at least here in the US, upset that you bought the 4.1's and not the new 5.1's ? ------------------ Miles
  12. Well ant of them are good...the AE, SBl live 5.1, Jazz'a DE-006 decoders will all do the job ------------------ Miles

  14. Well, how can you blame klipsch for releasing a new model of speakers, I mean a lot of people were asking for a 5.1 set. And as for the "upgrade" people want, well the same thing happened to all of the v.2-400 owners (me) and you shouldn't feel cheated, you still have one of the best 4.1 systems out there ------------------ Miles
  15. Yeah the paradigm's are nice, but won't you have to buy an amplifier to use them, unlike the klipsch's, which bring the price up another $200-300 (US)? ------------------ Miles
  16. I'm looking for a hard, fast bass track to try out some new subs. I know of the extended frequency shifts, but I would like a test or a song that hits hard and really fast without the bass being extended. Any help would be very appreciated.
  17. I don't see where all this animosity for Creative Labs is coming from. Sure they release new products with small updates, but who doesn't, look at the v.2-400 to the 4.1's. You might need to come up with a better arguement than that. As for the AE, it is a great card and I look forward to the competition Creative Labs is getting from Philips and Hercules. But please don't use unfounded claims to put done a good product. I have been very pleased with my soundblaster live and I'm looking to upgrade to a better sound card (with DD 5.1) probably later this year. Be it creative, philips, or hercules let the best product win...not the manufacturers name that is on it.
  18. Well, have you considered that the Atp5's have a smaller frequncy range, (45hz-18khz) while the promedia's go from (29hz to 20khz) so the sub from the Atp5's may be taking a higher frequency range than the sub from the promedias.(Explaining why you're feeling more base from Matrix scenes in the Atp5 sub and in the Promedia satellites than its sub). As for the lack in base, it could be that your got a lemon (there are always some lemons, usually no matter who makes what) My sub from the v.2-400's causes numerous door knobs and windows to rattle in my dorm room, as well as really being able to feel it from 5-10 feet away when playing Metallica's live bass solo from Mexico, of course I never get to do it very long, The RA isn't a big fan of bass.
  19. I was just wondering if there were any good recommendations on breaking in speakers.
  20. I was going to use the Jazz De-006 dolby decoder and seperate the center/sub chanel with a stereo spliter and run one to two of my promedia speaker (using an 8.2 sys) and the other to the sub.
  21. Wow, its gotten some great reviews. Where did you buy yours from?
  22. I'm looking for a good sub for example the KSW-15 (yes I have seen it for 450 something, not including shipping) in the 300-500(US) range to use with my promedia's. I saw a post earlier discussing theses, but I haven't found it yet. Any help would be appreciated
