Jeff Matthews
The fact of the matter is business minds in America are getting the idea that retailing would be a noble cause if it weren't for the customers. It's getting so bad these days, that grocery stores think they're doing you a favor by setting up scanners so you can scan your own groceries. They think customers are delighted to carry the store's idiotic plastic "Cost Cutter" cards just to get a NORMAL price. Businesses are run by people. These people, in their own ways, are consumers, too. They should consider what path they are taking, because it will come back to hurt them if all they want to do is herd people, rather than provide service. It's no wonder why our local HEB does many times the volume as does our local Kroger. You don't have to go in to HEB knowing you don't have that stupid card and will have to pay more or try to finagle around the system. Here's the funniest one I've seen in recent days..... A credit card company will round up your purchase "for you" and stick the overcharge in your own little savings account. How nice! [:|] 21 percent interest to save my own money. Businesses want to get futher and further away from the customer, but not the customer's money. On top of that, they really, truly think customers are idiots. Short term - maybe. Long term - never.
