Hi guys, these are the Khorns I recently got from Joe. I believe he said they were 1975 walnut lacquer models. He conservatively rated them a 8.5 out of 10. I have to agree. They have a few character marks but nothing brutal like plant rings or anything to distract from their great looks.

They look ten times better than my 64 Khorns but I hate to say it, my 64's sound better to me. This was a tough decision with my wife barking at me to keep the new ones.

Anyway, here they are in Chicago for $2200. If you need to have them shipped I highly recommend Craters and Freighters. They charged me $600 door to door with the best packaging job that I have ever seen.

Trades are cool, always looking for something to mess with. No cables, power cords or solid state please:)

Pete

By the way, you have some Beatles LP's coming your way as soon as I can sort out my dupes. You expressed an interest in the lot I bought from Joe. Might take a little time, please remind me.

Yipes!   Are they a matched pair?   The veneer looks different from each other.   And...   Are they sold?

They look much closer in person, could be the flash? Not sold as of this post.

"my 64's sound better to me"

Is this due to the larger mouth opening for the k-33's, the existance of the k-33 throat area bevel, or A vs AA xovers?

I think the actual grain looks right, but the photo on the right was at an angle that captured quilting while the one on the left didn't.

funny you mention that...I bought DeanG's single Heresy last week...I'm glad he saw me wanting it on the Forum as I just got the three emails to him kicked back today...and I sent them last week...

The one on the left looks taller and bigger than the one on the right. Can I have them for free?

BS

My urologist says that's normal.

Colter,

I don't live in Indy, but thanks for thinking of me. Chicago, are these a matched pair in Serial numbers?

BS

Didn't know till you asked. Nope, serial numbers are 7N078 & 7N093.

I didn't know that the K33 had a larger opening, never removed one before. Couldn't be the difference in the crossovers because I evaluated them both with DeanG's.

Pete is that a Jensen P15LL on the top photo? Looks like the woofer in my 63 CW's!

The answer with S/N's above answers the question about the wood grain. They are not a matched set by quite a margin.

so if the serial #'s are off sequence by a mere 15 that is considered a poor match !!!!!!! i wonder why that would be?????? i had them here for a couple years and they are a GREAT looking pair, the color is a dead on match they are a factory walnut laquer, and the veneer is very nice, not really sure what the concern is anyweay as i (with 20 years experiance in carpentry) have yet to lay 2 pieces of wood togeather and get an exact match, in my opinion thats the beauty of wood is its minor imperfections and differant grains etc.....I myself am partial to oak but i guess i should pull up my floors as the grains and patterns vary by a huge margin even though they were all a part of the same lot batch with matching #'s WHO KNEW !!!!!!!!!!!!

i cant get over the fact that all that seems to happen on here at times is a bashing when the thing to remember is it is a pair 0f minimum 5000 dollar speakers for less than half with a more than generous offer to take trades, and they are a very close match by quite a margin!!!!!!!!!

Not bashing, but khorns in a veneered matched pair.... match. They are from the same veneer run and would be duplicates of each other except one would have a wider or smaller version of that same grain. On my one pair of walnuts, they have areas that are like 'eyes'. One has larger eyes, the other has smaller eyes, but clearly cut from the same 'eye'. And that's important to many when purchasing.
