Out of print DVDs?

Yes, I am a fan of horror movies. After having lost bidding on a copy of "Phantasm, Special Edition" and seeing how many 70s, 80s, and 90s horror movies I can NOT rent via netflix, I'm thinking there must be a better way to hunt for these. Other than checking out the local "half price books" (not sure if anyone else has that chain) does anyone have advice on finding out of print obscure DVDs in the bargain bin without stopping at every garage sale I see?
