allardia
Hello!, Just stumbled across this website, Saw some discussions re B&O turntables. I own an old 2402 Beogram that I bought when this model came out. It's been a gem, and now has a little prob that maybe you gents could help to solve. The arm and original cartridge are in great shape. It plays beautifully, then when it reaches the end of the record, it stops play, and the arm swings back to the start position. Fine. The problem is that the stylus is being dragged across the record grooves to the start position. The drag is audible, but not loud. This is something new for my 'table. Any ideas? I do not have the manual that came w/ the 2402, so I know not how to address the prob.! Help would be greatly appreciated.. Than you. allardia
DJK, Thanks a million for the rapid response! What solvent should be used to un-gum the cueing cylinder? Use pipe-cleaners or long-handle q-tips for cleaning? May I assume that the cylinder is under the fulcrum of the arm? allardia
ScorpsFan
I have a B&O TX-2 with linear tracking, so I won't be much help, but here is a site with some instructions for cleaning your cueing cylinder: http://www.turntablebasics.com/advice.html Best of Luck! Klipsched with Yamahas
Hey ScorpsFan, have you had any issues w/motor noise on your unit? Almost like a motor click, and #2, have you ever lubed your slide bar (where the arm/cartridge slide)? Thanks, and I shall also check out that link
thebes
Bought a 2402 last year with a similiar problem. Here's the solution with pictures: http://www.beoworld.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=8561 Use machine or sewing machine oil, not motor oil and WD40 or oil for freeing rusted bolts. Let soak for awhile then push up and down until it frees, dab up some of the oil you used with a bit of paper towel and then re-oil. Pretty simple and the cure seems to last a long time. Klipsched with Yamahas
Damn, nothing about linear tangential TX2's.......just registered on the Beoworld forums, so I'll locate what I need
ScorpsFan
Sorry for the delayed response, no, I haven't had to lube it yet and luckily I haven't had to replace the cartridge (whoa, did they increase in price!!) I'm sure you will find what you need at Beoworld, that's usually where I go too. Best of Luck!
