whatever55
I would like some opinions. I have a Pioneer SX-1980 and am thinking of buying a McIntosh MA-6900. Should I expect any sonic differences ? I am using Klpisch Belles with Al's Trachorns and Beyma Tweeters. Thanks
rcarlton
I think you would hear differences, not dramatic. More like a different flavor. The McIntosh might sound a bit warmer. The Pioneer was a good (great) receiver in it's day, now it is nearly 30 years old. Some of the capacitors are probably tired. And those blue meters...how can you resist? Southern
I also have a Pioneer SX-1980 and after almost 30 years I am still listening to it and love the sound. If you do decide to go with the McIntosh don't sell your Pioneer, they don't make them like that anymore.
