Please recommend center channel for these patritions?

Hi ,

My father in law has two of these Electro-Voice Patritions in his living room. His brother bough both in a movie theatre in the 70's.

This is the closest pic as to what they look like, I have no idea what the specs are but I have listened to them and they just about blew me away. They sound incredible. He has this sub that cannot keep up with it. We were listeneing to Apollo 13 and the bass from this thing is outstanding. The house shook to the point where I felt a tremble throughout my body and I felt uncomfartable at one point. He has been listenening to stereo music all this time, but is now interested in setting up HT system.

Can you recommend a center and surrounds that will suffice? He is also looking at used center speakers, but I have no idea which center speaker could work as far as timber/tonality. I am sure these are klipsch type speakers because they have those horns in them.

I appreciate your comments,

Dave

This is quite a unique loudspeaker system let alone the beautiful cabinetry. I have heard this system in prior years while working at EV. You may not be aware but this design incorporates a 4 way crossover system which includes a 30 inch LF driver (model 30W) and a T350 on the high frequency band.

Here is a data sheet for the speaker. The range goes from 15-23 kHz which is extreme for any loudspeaker system.

You can see a picture of the 30 W here.

As far as a center channel you will have a hard time matching this to a center due to its extreme design. Best case for Klipsch would be a Cornwall or LaScalla but you might want to include a RT12 or THX subwoofer to go with that, in order to keep up with the 30" drivers on L/R.

Take care of that 30" driver because the cone can no longer be reproduced since the tool for that cone burned up in a factory some 20 years ago.
