I need help with choosing surrounds and room placement.

Bill -

Yes, I think this is going to be the best placement, and then take the two black thin absorbers off the back wall and place them both next to each other to cover the first reflection point on wall (red arrow on wall in picture) that Professor Thump is describing. The absorber is approx 2" thick of owens corning. I think this is what Professor Thump was referring to.

I think your placement will work great. I was thinking if you were hanging higher on the top wall then the 45 would be the first reflection from on axis of the one horn. The room will already be a bit unsymmetrical with the curtain giving you a dry sound on the right and much more reverb on the left. So you may need to treat the hard wall on the left to balance it out. See pic...

The more I look at this I see that you have a small curtain on that side so you are probably just fine with the treatment as planned.
