Bill H.
Don't know the exact location, but about two blocks from NYU education department, is a Fabulous Ethiopian eatery. Great Food, excellent Coffee. A Unique experience.

colterphoto1
for the best pizza there is only "one" place in NYC and its Ray's Pizza. Yeah, but then you get to dig through the entire history of "Ray's" and "the Original Ray's" to figure out which one you're at. But they're all pretty good. Cheese slice please (no toppings for a true New Yawker), fold in half longways, let grease drip out, enjoy! It's the water you know, NYC has great city water, they have to! I'm poor and enjoy the street food- dogs (get the steamed onions, and no they don't have coney sauce), knish (those potato thingies), candied nuts (Central Park) etc. Roxy Deli is amazing- I got a Reuben that must have seriously had 12-16 ounces of meat on it. dollar bill
Not quite NYC proper, but one of my favorites. The Bayou Restaurant 580 Gramatan Avenue Mount Vernon, NY 10552 914-668-2634 www.bayourestaurantny.com Great food and great music, including one artist that does a crawfish boil, while playing!
