vandyman
Hi, Hopefully someone out there in the Klipsch Forum knows the overall length of the K-53 midrange driver in the original Forte model. I would like to design a speaker cabinet on paper before having to tear apart one of my spare Fortes. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ! djk
It goes all they way to the back of the box, virtually touches. Look up the cabinet size in the archives, and don't make it any shallower.
vandyman
Thanks for the input, that will help me when placing the crossover on the back of the speaker. Vandyman

The K-61 is 11 & 1/8" from face to back ... if that helps at all
colterphoto1
Are you building a forte compatible center channel? If so that is a very cool effort.
vandyman
Yes, my intentions are to build a center channel for my other Fortes. I also intend to reconfigure a pair of Quartets for corner duty as rear speakers, so the specs on the K-61 were needed as well. Thanks for all the help and information. I ended up replacing the Quartet's cross-over and tweeter with Forte II components. A cabinet shop built the motorboard "lids" for $130/piece. One of the most satisfying projects I ever attempted.
