ryanaep731
I just bought the RVX-54 Home theatre system, consisting of 2 RVX-54, 1 RVX-42, 2 RSX-4, and 1 RW12d speakers. I'm wondering what receivers tend to perform best with this system. I've had Yamaha before and was happy with it. I'm looking to spend between $1-2,000. Some models I've been looking at are the Denon AVR3808CI and the Yamaha RX-V3800BL. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks in advance.
Moderators Youthman Posted May 4, 2008 Moderators Share Posted May 4, 2008 Welcome to the forums. For that price, I would consider going with separates (Emotiva MMC-1 with either an LPA-1 or an XPA-5 or a setup from Outlaw Audio).
kelA
Again, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I have not seen too many people with the RVX series of speakers on the forums. Did you have a chance to demo the speakers or did you buy unheard? The reason I ask is if you had the chance to demo them, I would go with the same electronics. If you bought them unheard, then I am sure the models you have targeted will be more than sufficient. Let us know what you decide. How about some pics when everything is up and running? Good luck, enjoy.
Fotog
I just bought yesterday a Yahama RX-V663 ($499 @ Best Buy). The RX-V883 is I believe near your lower price point. Mine replaced an old worn out Technics so this is a tremendous upgrade for me. The reviews on Yahama receivers is mixed with those that like them - really liking them and willing to overlook some items for the clean sound and low distortion - the RX-V663 is .06% THD. Best of luck in your search.
