turbo
Ignorantly bought a KLF-C7 thinking the timbre would match with my set of KG5.5's. The 5's are real bright and IMO have great top-end sound. The C7 is more smooth, although noticably less bright than the 5's. They're running on a Kenwood system. Does anyone know if: A: There is some cross-over tweak that can better match them up (assumption is the horns are similar)? B: Can I just get the same set of horns and install across all 3 speakers. Any x-over issues? The throat of the horns look similar, although the flange and bolt patterns and dimensions are different. Thanks, Tom
STL
A) Probably not. The difference you are hearing is likely much more than different crossover points. The KG5.5s use the K-85-K horn. The same horn is also used on the KG4.5, KG5.2, and KG4.2 (just in case you're trying to find a speaker with a matching horn on eBay, etc.). I'm not sure if it can be adapted to fit the C7 enclosure. aab3rd
Welcome fellow West Tennesseean. I live in Bolivar-about 50 minutes from Wolfchase. Glad to have someone close on the forum. BTW where did you get your speakers, Modern Music or Sound Vision?
turbo
Hi aab3rd, Although right around the corner from Sound Visions, I had these when transplanted to the area a few years ago. Bought them from Bryn Mawr in Allentown, PA. I also bought a KSW200 which I've had problems with, thus, been to Sound Visions just recently. You may be interested to know they dropped the Klipsch lineup. Around two weeks ago, they were clearing what they had in stock out... aab3rd
turbo, Yea, I know they dropped the Klipsch line last year. Ken said that the quality had dropped. I bought my KSW200 from them as well as my KSP-S6s ($375 new) and traded a KLF-C5 for a C7. They have gone more toward the high end and custom install. Anyway, glad to have another Klipscher in the area.
