Guest " "
the ST-70 uses el-34, kt-77, etc. the ST-120 tube amp (basically two mark III's on one chasis) uses kt-88's.
mark1101
I have a Bob Latino built Dynaco clone "ST-120". It uses 12AT7 driver tubes and I'm using KT-88 output tubes. It can run 6550, KT-88, and KT-90. Uses a 5ar4 rectifier
Donkeyshins
To be blunt, the ST70 is a good amp (I've heard several variations - have not heard the ST120), but the ST35 (not SCA35) is a much better amp. The Z565 has the best iron that Dyna ever wound (although the power supply transformer is a bit underrated and gets hot) and EL84 tubes are pure magic with Klipsch speakers. Yes, 17.5WPC is a bit low, but when you are playing with >98dB 1W/m, you don't need much more than that. Give a listen to an ST35 before jumping to an ST70 - you might be surprised. How would you compare that sound to a McIntosh MA252 SS
