Center speaker placement

Since I will have a LCD projector, the screen will be on the wall. Due to the screen, I will have to place the Klipsch RC-7 very low, very close to the floor. Will this be okay?

Not to worry, KAiN64... just aim the RC-7 toward where your head will be in the sweetspot... presumably that means tilt it up a bit to get the maximum benefit from the horn. How do you like the SVS Ultra with the Ref 7 family?

Your system has to be a hit in Dubai! Be well.

Wow, to be missed from North Syracuse to Dubai is quite an honor. All across the board, people have taken the time to welcome me back... it is a very humbling experience. Some of my absence has been illness and some of it has been enjoying my system so much that I don't spend much recreational computer time.

Since I completed the KLF-30 modification to make it a giant center speaker, I have had the pleasure of a six KLF-30 6.1 system... set to "SMALL" with the Twin SVS Ultras picking up the bottom range Hz. KAiN, I see you did get (or are about to get) an SVS Ultra... be sure to set all the other speakers to "SMALL" it makes a BIG difference. First it reduces the potential for standing waves Wavey.gif and secondly, it frees the Ref7's from long excursions making them even tighter on musical passages. Let us know how your Ultra works with the Ref7's. HornEd

Sseymour, as you grow your system, try having three main speakers up front. Since 5.1 (and above) puts upwards of 75% of the sound on the center channel, how can we look to the left and right fronts as being mains... and put a weaker speaker in the center? Discrete channels replacing the old "ambient" notions make a big difference in what works best. And, to my mind, manufacturers have yet to catch up with the potential to sell a new generation of probably more expensive speakers.

Yes, fellow Klipschers, the times they are a'changin'

so keep posted!cwm15.gif HornEd
