jhw59 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 This started recently. What could be causing it? What are remedies? Quote
SilverSport Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 too close to your amp???...I used to get a humm out of the amp when my Center was too close to it... Bill Quote
TNRabbit Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Obviously, it doesn't know the words~! [:|] Seriously, this is not an uncommon problem. Many times it can be traced to poor ground or other connections within the amp, power cord or interconnects. The drivers vibrate the H#!! out of these devices & stuff can & does come loose. I'd go through all connectors including internal & check solder points where easily possible. That's the easiest FIRST thing to do. If nothing there, it may require service. Quote
jhw59 Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 it is pretty close to the HT receiver but it has to stay where it is. I don't recall the hum was present when I first set all the components up.What should be grounded-receiver, sub, both? Quote
IndyKlipschFan Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Check your inputs into it (subs) or wires behind it too, moving them around..making sure everything is plugged in too.. You may want to unplug things one at a time.. to your pre amp and also check connections too one at a time.. Unplug power from a DVD CD or VHS int your pre amp as well. Some CD players are the culprit here... All this takes time, is a pain I know, but it might solve your problem.. Last, check if you have anything you did not have plugged into a outlet or light changes too near your system. A friend freaked out when heating blanket was plugged into a outlet hearing the same problem hum you have been discribing too.. Quote
jhw59 Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 Thanks. I use a Yammy663 as the HT receiver. I will check everything. The outlet is dedicated to the HT gear and I replaced it with an Acme audio outlet Quote
jhw59 Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 Well, I moved some wires around and that seems to have solved the problem (for now). thanks everyone! Quote
IndyKlipschFan Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I'm glad it helped... good to hear it was a simple solution too...[] Quote
