Klipsch Image - Skin Oil Interaction Concern

I've heard that people have to be very careful in how they handle and/or store the Klipsch Image earphones to ensure that the part that connects the wire to the brass compartment won't "crack" and/or fray. Don't get me wrong--I had experience with other IEMs before having two pair of Klipsch Image IEMs (The earlier ones discussed more about the X10s). Since I owned the X5, I had to make sure that the IEMs were kept inside its respective "box pouch" so this way the rubber area that connects the wire to the metal would not tear. I've heard that if you were not careful then you risk tearing the "intersector" apart.

Now here's my concern: Because the X10 is known to be smaller than the X5, it is more suspectible to interaction with certain skin oils. Is it possible that the Image X10's "intersector" can tear apart (even if you store it in the box pouch) can tear apart if not cleaned and/or taken care of? Is it possible that skin oils would cause damage to the wires and/or the "intersector" that connects the wire to the metal compartment of the "cans"?

Something to worry about.

I would say probably not but they have had some troubles with that small part but I think it's limited to splitting and everyting still works fine.

The issue is isolated to certain chemicals the some people secrete.  This is only an  issue on early built X10's.

Word, but I should point out that I ordered my X10 and received my X10 Image late November 2008. Does that Skin Oil Interaction concern applies to me?

Please advise. Thanks.

Also, does this affect the Image X5 Earphones as well?
