  1. I've already purged thousands of inactive members, just after the forum relaunch.

The upload space issue will resolve itself in time. In the meantime, suggesting the use of Photobucket or imgur.com or some other photo sharing site is great as well as optimal.

  2. The search engine in the new forums is something I want to fix soon. It's not optimal at the moment. For some reason, some things just don't come up in search results. It's a problem with the default search engine. There is supposedly a solution, but I've not had a chance to really implement. Hopefully soon I can.

    Thanks

  3. I see a WORLD of possibilities. What a brilliant design and marvelous execution! Consider how much more effective our planetary rovers would be using that method of locomotion.

I know, right? I guess it could be worse. It could be furry. <shudders>

  4. A simple thing to do for people who personally request help from you Chad is to run a re-size application on thier directory.

That is simple sounding, but keep in mind there is also a database that stores metadata about each attachment (including the size), which means each record would need to be updated with the new size info after the resizing application does its thing. This requires a bit of scripting and I just don't have the time right now. Not saying it'll never happen, just not in the immediate future.

One more question to ask is about hard drive capacity.

Indeed. However the server is not a physical server that sits at Klipsch. It's a server in the "cloud" at the webhost. I can't just plug in a couple hard drives to it. We have options - I've been looking into adding block storage to the server to help, but as I mentioned before the next version of IP.Board (this forum software) is supposed to support storing attachments on Content Delivery Networks (which we are using one of those already for the rest of our website), eliminating the need for block storage or physical storage methods.

It would be nice if the forum shrunk attatchments to a pre-determined size. I'm sure it would free up a lot of forum space for me as well as others.

I agree. The Gallery application does this though.

I appreciate everyone's patience. It'll all work out in the end one way or another. Give me some time. Got a lot on my plate at the moment, being the only web dev @ Klipsch & all ;)

    Happy Cyber Monday!

  5. I don't know, but $647MM is an inconceivable amount for a website. I can't dream up what a site so expensive is supposed to do. Cure cancer?

I doubt the developers got a huge chunk - but there is also a pretty big technology infrastructure that is required, plus paying for support. $647M worth? Doubt it. Even so, obviously those who were hired weren't the best, and there should have been an extensive testing period, which there wasn't one.

  6. Now, my only concern is that Uncle Sam will get wind of Chad's remarkable ability to deal with hundreds of impossible to satisfy hornheads and draft him to fix that health care thing...

Only if they throw a billion dollars at ME.

  7. Chad,

Is there an image size limit to posting in the Gallery? I tried posting an 800x600 .jpg, but the site crops it to some other size and you lose the effect of the picture.

    Thanks for all your work.

    Rudy

When looking at the image, it will auto-fit in the browser window depending on the window's dimensions. You can see the actual resized version(s) (it makes a few different sizes) by clicking on the "options" button when looking at an image in the gallery, then clicking the "View All Sizes" option.
