  1. Nice link youthman! I saved this under favorites!
  2. It sounds like the PS3 is the way to go....at least in this theater. The kids will eventially have full control. The system is a Yammy RXZ1 used as a pre-pro and for the time being, using a 150wpc AMC 5 channel amp. The screen is a non-hdmi 720P Pioneer RPTV which to this day looks spectacular, and as good if not better than the Samsung LCD in 720P mode. Of course RF-7's, RC-7, and RF3-II's for sourrounds. KSW15 sub as well as a Pinnicale Referance sub of some type. All-in-all, pretty sweet set-up. The idea is the future theater, which will have some sort of amazing projector and I am studying what type of system to get. So far the Integra 9.8 or 9.9 (which ever one without the amp) or the Yamaha RXZ11.
  3. I think some of the higher end Onkyo products are good...IE Integra...but overall I like the Yamaha, and I've had both. The Yamaha just seems cleaner in sound and clarity.
  4. Indeed! Let me know the next time you're in the area. If we can work it out we could have lunch.
  5. I currently have a system with RF-7's and RF-3's and another system with Forte II's and have also had KLF-20's. Each speaker has a unique sound and a very pleasant one to me. Currently I am high on my Reference system...but not long ago I was high on my Forte's....damn I miss my 20's!
  6. We're they at 50%? I was kinda thinking the same thing. They also had some Polk LSi-09's that I was thinking about as well. Heck, I might go $900 and buy 2 rt10d's....I wish I would have known about them going out of business earlier.
  7. I wouldn't give them my money...period. I'm sure they are not the sole suplier of that set. Of course, I'm an A-Hole if a seller pisses me off. I don't flame them on EBAY, unless they did something knowingly wrong, but still.... Buy a Buzzard setup and tell her it's the North American Sky Penguin!
  8. Sweet snag Steve! The Tweeter in Greensboro is all but wiped out. They do have a RT10D for $1,100 I think and some RS-62's for $500 and some RF-62's(?)
  9. So, I just read about the 7.1 analog abilities of the newer BR players. So in your opinion, what is the best player on the market?
  10. Well, I guess I'll keep the monitors where they are. Wife wanted the flat panel TV, soooo............. Anyway, the dedicated theater downstairs will be a projector with Blu-ray and the works.... For now I was just wondering....out loud. In another thread I read where some players offer the 7.1 analog connection. I may look into that as well for the theater.
  11. Hi Tarheel...long time no talky! Just sitting here blown away by the Oldbuckster news. Yep, we sold our house in Danville and now live in Northern Durham County. Wife finially is closer to Duke so she doesn't have to make that 160 minute daily drive. Finially got land, 14.5 acres, and have an amish barn coming in tomorrow and horses from NY next week. Whisky for the horses! We were down there a few weekends ago and fished at Ft. Fisher...always love that area. We actually came very close to moving there as the hospital needed a Chief of Anesthesia last year, but we couldn't meet on a salary....oh well...it was fun dreaming! Hope to be posting more as I have an entire new set of circumstances in audio to tackle, and I'm out of touch...no...rusty....no IGNORANT!
  12. He will be missed. I have many fond memories over the years talking back and forth. Lately I've been pulled in other directions and this completely went under my radar. I'll miss him........
  13. Oh God.... I shed a tear when I read this. I loved the old Buckster and hoped to meet him one day the next time our travels found us in Upstate NY.... I'll miss him...I already do.
  14. Questions, questions, and more questions.... As some of you guys know, we've moved. I'm reconfiguring my theater as we speak. What was once my old theater (and still current one) will become the kids theater (minus the RF-7's and RC-7. Anyhoooooo, we now have a blue-ray (Panasonic BD-30). Playing regular DVD's, Will this player outperform my Denon 2900? My monitor is a RPTV Pioneer (Still extremely sharp) unit, but only does 720P and component conections. The reason I ask is that we bought a samsung 46" LCD that does 1080P with HDMI connections and hung it on the living room wall. The picture is sweet on blu-ray, but the wife will not allow any speakers, etc, so, the blu-ray is simply for picture only. I was thinking if the blu-ray would do DVD's at least as good, I might move it to the theater and bring the 2900, or my 2800 to the family room. Thanks in advance....many more questions to follow.
  15. Thanks for the updates! Sounds like the 9.9 is a very sweet unit! Excellent price point as well
  16. Our home was on the market for 20 months...LOL...We wouldn't accept a "fire sale"! Would the drylock be a preventative BEFORE a coating of stucco or whatever its called? Will drylock fill in the recessed grout lines of the cinder block?
  17. Hi guys, We just sold our home and bought another one in the Raleigh/Durham area. In our house we just sold, my theater was in a ver large shared room with the kids junk and acoustics were horrible. In the new room we have an area that will be finished off in a complete dedicated theater. However, I need to maximize my dollars spent as we are fencing and building a horse barn on the property as well as new granite conters, reface cabinets, etc...you get the picture...papa's theater needs to be built using "best economical practices". The room is about 20 x 30? and very dry cinder block walls. There is cinder block on the left wall coming down the steps and a hallway with ciderblock on the left and a sheet rock wall on the right. Here are my thoughts. DROP CEILING...YUCK...but I've gotta do it. Any suggestions on how to make that look good, panels/tiles, etc. CINDERBLOCK WALLS...rubbing/finishing out the walls in a stucco and faux finish. The steps down to the hallway and the hallway I was considering a faux brick appearance complete with grout lines...I read last night this could be done with a sponge. In the theater I was think about a beige/brown sponge finsh over the stucco/filler, then covered ever so often in a "theater curtain/drapes" for sound absobtion to stop reflection. In this application, I'm not sure how to hide the wiring, etc. FLOORS...thick shag carpet, or tile with heavy throw rugs. Again, the room is extremely dry as the exterior walls face a brick facade and the interior block walls never face the outside directly. There is absolutely no signs of moisture and the house was built 20 years ago. PLEASE PICK THIS APART OR MAKE SUGGESTIONS....Thanks guys and gals! Phil
  18. Doing some catch up on posts here. I just traded in my Dixie Chopper 2760 for a Dixie Chopper 3366 Excaliber. This machine is super sweet! I absolutely enjoy mowing with it.....it's a little pricey at $11,400, but we now have 14.5 acres and I will be mowing about 12 of those, so for me it was a no brainer. I've also had a 72" Simplicity mower in the past that I loved as well!
  19. Does anyone know the price. In the past I was a huge Onkyo fan, and the Integra line is just that much better. This 9.9 unit is a seperates unit? When is it suposed to be available? Thanks!
  20. Very cool guys, only problem is, I have nothing to connect the cable to:) I need new AV Gear. I have excellent equipment, but it's now all for naught. I can still salvage my amps though.
  21. Thanks Jeff! Looks like I'll be traveling that road now....
  22. Well, it's been a while since I've posted here. We've sold our home and are moving to Durham, NC. In our new home, we have an unfinished area in the basement about 850 sq ft that I'm converting to a bar and theater. My question is regarding HDMI...Is it worth it? Can one watch Blue Ray through RGB? I'll be buying a 1080P projector, so is HDMI the way to go? If so, what are some good AV Recievers. I'm thinking about the Yamaha RX-Z11, but would be happy with a seperates system as I have the amps. I'm just so out of touch now and any help would be much appreciated. TIA!
  23. I as well had the Polk RT-800i's. I actually LOVED them but they are a different sound. My first Klipsch was a pair of RF-3II's that replaced the Polks in my main system. The Polks were religated to back porch duty, and again I loved them. I compare Polk's to a more sensitive B & W speaker. Obviously not the high end B & W's. Anyhooo, hope you're enjoying those Klipsch. I have only two systems now, and both feature Klipsch.
  24. Steve, I was/am a huge yes fan. I would have loved to seen that!
  25. I imagine hospitailty like that is overwhelming. It's certainly not like the Saturday night buffett at the "sizzler"! You must feel very honored!
